So my blog has been a pretty vacant little place as of late. It’s been constantly at the back of my head that I am slowly but surely neglecting it ALREADY … but every time I sat down at my laptop to start a new blog post I’ve been distracted by Youtube (Love a good Primark haul or Helen Anderson daily vlog) or reading other blogs. Even though I don’t do a whole lot else during the week other than go to work I am out the house from 7am to 7pm so there just isn’t enough hours in the day.
I’ve been feeling a bit shitty recently and going through a “Oh my god what do I want to do with my lifeeeee?!” phase. We’ve all been there. I have this mental breakdown at least 4 times a week. Rather than get down about it or feel sorry for myself, I decided to focus on things that are making me happy or that I’m excited and looking forward to as a little reminder that focusing on the positives is much more important than dwelling on the negatives.
The light nights are returning.
So it’s no longer pitch black when I wake up at 6.30am and that makes me so happy. Not only because I am ridiculously terrified of the dark, but It makes me feel better that it’s not dark when I leave the house and dark when I get home. It makes it feel SLIGHTLY less ground hog-day-ish. Also, we had like a day and a half of nice weather recently which for Scotland is ground breaking. I am so so so excited for Summer to come back so that we can start spending our nights after work on the beach with the dog rather than slumped on the couch under the duvet watching Sons Of Anarchy. (Don’t get me wrong, I am loving watching SOA at the moment) but I would much prefer to be laughing at the dog rolling around like a looney in the sand.
A night away in Edinburgh.
So this weekend coming Robbie and I are off for a day of eating, drinking and fun times in Edinburgh. His sister and her partner kindly booked us a night at the Hilton so I’m really looking forward to that. It’s so nice to have something to look forward to all week. When something bothers me – whether it’s at work or the general annoyances of commuting and the public etc I just think only a few days left to go until I will be having 100% more fun than I’m having now and before I know it, I’ve distracted myself and am planning ahead the things I want to do. Iv’e also (shock horror) been eating really healthy lately, So I do plan to go all out in Edinburgh on Saturday and eat anything that my heart… and stomach so desires. Allllll the wine and procecco please.
Green Day in London and Glasgow.
So this morning I started my day by booking mine and my friend Amy’s flights to London as we are off there in July to see Green Day. The minute it was confirmed and I got my booking confirmation through I was buzzing. My friend Amy has never flown before in her life which is crazy so I’m so excited to share the experience with her. My best friend Sarah and her boyfriend are also going to the gig in London as well as some other Green Day friends that I haven’t seen for ages so it’s going to be such a fun trip and I can’t wait to spend time with everyone that I don’t get to see as much as I’d like to. The best part is we get to do it all over again a few days later when we see them in Glasgow too. It’s been 70 days since I last saw the band (Not that I’m counting) In Berlin and OH MY GOD I am itching to be back in my happy place in front of them again.
Finding a good book.
I’ve been looking for a really good book to get into recently. Nothing has really grabbed my fancy although I will admit a few weeks ago I saw Scarlett Moffat’s book “Scarlett Says” advertised and even though it’s not exactly the most thrill seeking intellectual book I could have gone for, I really wanted to read it. I love Scarlett Moffat, I think she’s brilliant. My dad always tells me that she reminds him of me in terms of her personality, her sense of humour and sarcastic one liners. You can imagine my excitement when I was in Tesco tonight and saw the book for £3! Bargain. I have only read a few pages since I’ve got home but have laughed already so I know i’m going to enjoy it and It’ll make my train journeys whizz past!
